Code of Conduct
The Student Code of Conduct at Washington State University applies to all students from the time of application to the time of graduation. Students are expected to follow the Code of Conduct both on and off campus. All information on this page is a summary of the Code of Conduct and not the actual Code of Conduct. Please refer to the Code of Conduct definitions in Washington Administrative Code Chapter 504-26 for official policy language.
When determining appropriate sanction(s) for a conduct violation, the university evaluates several key factors to make a fair decision. Conduct officers consider the student’s past conduct record, including the nature and severity of any previous violations, as well as the overall impact the behavior had on the complainant and the campus community. Relevant local, state, and federal laws are also taken into account. Additionally, if a student intentionally targeted someone based on protected characteristics this is treated as an aggravating factor that will result in more severe outcomes.
