Resolution Options

The Center for Community Standards (CCS) offers several pathways to address student behavior and support the WSU community. The resolution pathways are summarized below. Please refer to Washington Administrative Code Chapter 504-26 for official policy language.

Conduct Officer Hearing

A Conduct Officer Hearing is used when a student's behavior has violated the code of conduct at WSU. Outcomes of this resolution option cannot result in suspension or expulsion.

Suspension Hearing

The Suspension Hearing is used when a student(s) behavior reported to the Center for Community Standards (CCS), or pattern of behavior, may warrant suspension from Washington State University (WSU).

Formal Hearing

The Formal Hearing is used when student(s) behavior reported to the Center for Community Standards (CCS), or pattern of behavior, may warrant expulsion from Washington State University (WSU). Or when behavior reported to CCS about a Registered Student Organization (RSO) may warrant loss of recognition.

University Appeals Board

The University Appeals Board (UAB) is assembled when a student submits a timely appeal of an initial decision. The UAB reviews appeals submitted because of an initial decision made in a conduct officer hearing, suspension hearing, or formal hearing.

Academic Integrity Hearing Board

The Academic Integrity Hearing board (AIHB) is used when a student submits a timely appeal of an initial decision made by a WSU instructor. The AIHB reviews appeals submitted because of an initial decision made by a WSU instructor in their course.

Agreed Resolution

Agreed resolutions can be used at the discretion of the Center for Community Standards (CCS). If terms of an Agreed Resolution cannot be met between a student and CCS. The case will be resolved through a different resolution pathway.
